Master the implementation and management of a cybersecurity programme aligned with the NIS2 Directive, from governance and risk assessment through incident handling, business continuity and continual improvement. One certification, three ways to earn it: study the official materials on your own schedule, add guided video to them, or attend five fixed days live-online with a PECB Platinum Trainer. The PECB certification exam and the certificate are included in every option.

Directive (EU) 2022/2555, known as NIS2, sets the cybersecurity obligations that essential and important entities across the European Union have to meet. It widens the sectors in scope, raises the security measures required under Article 21, puts approval and oversight of those measures on the management body under Article 20, and attaches incident-reporting deadlines and administrative fines to both. Each Member State transposes it into its own law, so the obligation lands on the entity through a national act.
Organizations in scope need someone who can build the programme the directive asks for and evidence it to a supervisor. This course builds that competency directly: you learn how to establish the governance structure, run the risk assessment, select and operate the Article 21 security measures, handle incidents against the reporting clock, and keep the whole programme under continual improvement. These are the practical skills a supervisory authority looks for when it asks an entity to demonstrate compliance.
All three formats cover the identical PECB curriculum and lead to the identical exam and credential. The difference is how the material reaches you and how much of your calendar it claims.

Choose live-online when you have a NIS2 programme to build and want a trainer to answer the questions your own sector and national transposition raise. Choose a self-paced format when the certification matters and the five consecutive days do not fit.
Every format leads to the same exam: the PECB Certified NIS 2 Directive Lead Implementer exam. What differs is which credential you can apply for afterward, based on your prior professional experience. There’s no separate exam or extra study required for a higher tier. It’s the same certification, recognized at a level that matches your background.
| Credential | Experience required | Cybersecurity project experience |
|---|---|---|
| Provisional Implementer | None | None |
| Implementer | 2 years (1 in cybersecurity) | 200+ hours |
| Lead Implementer | 5 years (2 in cybersecurity) | 300+ hours |
| Senior Lead Implementer | 10 years (7 in cybersecurity) | 1,000+ hours |
New to the field? You’ll qualify for Provisional Implementer immediately after passing, a fully valid PECB credential, and can apply for a higher tier later as your experience grows, without retaking the course.
